Three Notable Publications

The Poverty Reduction Coalition has compiled three notable publications related to Poverty in Calgary.

POVERTY REDUCTION COALITION WEBSITE GOES LIVE !

We are pleased to announce that the new Poverty Reduction Coalition website is finally live! The Coalition’s past and current publications and submissions can now be found at www.reducepoverty.ca, as well as a wealth of additional information and links to other external resources related to our four priority areas. This website has been some time in coming, but with the help of Ross Andersen of Little Orange Dots, the new site is easily navigated and expandable to accommodate the addition of new resources as the Poverty Reduction Coalition grows. Please take a few moments to look around – we’re quite proud.


IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES

The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is October 17th.
The Poverty Reduction Coalition is hosting a media conference to publicly release our newest report, Surviving Not Thriving: The untold story of struggling Calgarians. National Housing Day is November 22nd.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Recently, the Poverty Reduction Coalition Co-Chairs Jim Dinning and Nancy Laird along with Director Chris MacFarlane met with the Minister of Seniors and Community Supports, Greg Melchin regarding Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) reforms. They also had an opportunity to meet with the Associate Minister of Affordable Housing and Urban Development, Yvonne Fritz, to discuss provincial reforms to affordable housing. Both Ministers were supportive of the positions proposed by the Poverty Reduction Coalition and the possibility of joint projects in the future.
