REFUTING MYTHS - THE TRUTH ABOUT POVERTY
The Poverty Reduction Coalition recently unveiled our premiere Myths brochure, the first piece in a new and exciting series of informational tools. The Truth About Poverty is only available in hard copy and can be accessed by clicking here or calling 410-2573.
The Truth About Poverty discredits six commonly held beliefs about poverty in Calgary and Alberta:
- People living in poverty do not have a job.
- Full-time workers earn enough to support themselves and their families.
- A strong economy means that Albertans are wealthy.
- Self-employed workers are wealthy professionals.
- If the economy remains strong, the situation will improve.
- Poverty is only an issue for the poor.
