As the municipal election approaches, some of you may be holding or attending forums for the candidates running for mayor. We encourage you to include the questions below in your conversations with the candidates.

  1. What do you think should be done to increase affordable housing in Calgary? What specific actions are necessary?
  2. What is your position on using secondary suites in Calgary communities as a tool to advance affordable housing?
  3. Approximately 15% of Calgary’s children in 2004 were living in low-income households. What actions would you take to address this issue? Would you support a Mayor’s Task Force on Child Poverty?
  4. How would you ensure the Aboriginal perspective is included in City planning and actions in addressing issues of homelessness and poverty?
